I am thrilled to announce my residency for KL Radio. My weekly slot will be 3.00-5.00pm GMT every Sunday bringing you the very best in Ibiza Chillout Sounds. Join me each Sunday for your definitive musical tour of the White Isle from soaring, sunset anthems to hypnotic, Balearic beats. – John Taylor
More than just a musical genre, Balearic beats is a state of mind
John Taylor, also known by his stage name DJ JT, grew up with music being a constant source of happiness and solace in his life, having played a number of instruments in his childhood, ultimately leading to his path to DJ.
Heavily influenced by the magical music of The Beatles growing up, due to his parents’ love for the Fab 4, he recently had the opportunity to see Paul McCartney live. This fulfilled a lifelong ambition of his, and Paul brought the roof down “I was awestruck when Ringo made a guest appearance alongside him”. He makes yearly trips to the birthplace of The Beatles, Liverpool, and The Cavern Club, in homage to the musical lyrical genius of Lennon & McCartney.
During his late teens and early 20s, it was the explosion of Britpop which had a major impact on John’s life. None more so than Oasis, whose lyrics are the voice of his generation. John followed them religiously wherever they played live on countless occasions and was there to witness them at the peak of their powers at their historic Knebworth gigs. To this day, John still follows Liam & Noel’s music with a passion, together with other indie bands such as The Charlatans.
His nostalgic love for the electronica 80’s sounds and the dance music of the 90’s is reflected in his ever-growing vinyl collection. This melting-pot of influences is the reason Ibiza music resonates so strongly – the infectious, eclectic mix of sounds, conjuring emotions, and hedonistic memories.
DJ JT’s upcoming summer schedule includes DJ-ing at his local community 2-day event the ‘Chelmsford Lockdown Art Exhibition’.
