Ian Clarke

Ian was born in Barnet but moved at an early age to Norwich, where he has remained since. He has met Bernard Matthews, Delia Smith and Stephen Fry! But as of yet he is yet to meet another great Norfolk radio presenter Alan Partridge!
Early music influences came from listening to his parent’s record collection so became a fan of Frank Sinatra and developed a loathing of country music which remains to this very day!
To his parents delight at the age of ten Ian returned from school with a trombone and so began his love of brass music. Due to his short arms (but not deep pockets!) playing trombone was not
the best of choices so a move to cornet from trombone was organised.  After a few years of playing cornet Ian joined Cawston Band, a local brass band. He stayed for 37 years and his final performance with Cawston in 2017 was a joint concert with the world famous Fodens Band. He now plays for former 4th Section National Champions, Norfolk Wherry Brass.
His music collection naturally includes a lot of brass music but also everything from Albioni to ZZ Top!
By day Ian is Operations Manager for a large Tour Operator based at their head office in Norwich.  Married to Debs with 2 grown up step daughters. Aside from his family and music Ian can also works as a Safety Steward at Norwich City Football Club. Working n the tunnel and dressing room area he can be often seen on the TV!
Ian is delighted to be given the opportunity by KL Radio to introduce his own weekly brass band programme. With a love of brass bands and the perfect face for radio, it seems the perfect fit!
